STJ and Microcal X-ray Detectors

STAR Cryoelectronics is the only commercial source of high energy resolution superconducting tunnel junction (STJ) and transition edge sensor (TES) microcalorimeter detectors for X-ray spectroscopy.
Our STJ detectors are fabricated using Ta electrodes for high resolution and improved X-ray stopping power, and are available in arrays of 36 or 112 pixels.
Our TES microcalorimeter detectors are fabricated using Mo/Cu bilayers with Bi absorbers, and are available in 2 × 8 arrays of square pixels with 350, 500, and 550 µm side lengths.
